I was trying to get some pictures of the beautiful orange harvest moon as it was rising this night.  Unfortunately, shortly after I snapped this shot, the moon rose behind clouds and never reappeared.  You can barely make out the moon in the lower center of this shot, to the left of the cross.

The cross is a war memorial monument in my hometown.

Very nice Ace - looks like you've gotten well adjusted in your new house.

This is what happens when I get playing with my tablet - not a particularly interesting image, but I can't just delete it right?  ;D  A perfect entry for a random "shot of the day" since it matches no other meaningful subject.

Thanks! It was so easy with Nikon's Creative Lighting System! (talking about product placement :) )

-Just a piece of black cardboard from an Arts & Crafts shop
-An SB600 mounted on a tripod and throttled down to about 60%, positioned on the left side.
-An SB800 as the main light source, handheld on the right side in various positions
-The in-camera flash acting as the master controller.

Took about a dozen shots, playing with the position of the SB800. This is my favourite of the bunch.

Looks like an arts & crafts project from the 3rd grade eh?  ;D  I started just doodling on top of the flower itself, but once I got done with that, I wanted something to happen in the rest of the image.  I tried desaturating, which is what I thought I would do initially, but then I cranked it up to 100% saturation in blue, red & green using the selective saturation & ended up with something fairly close to what you see.  Once I had that, I drew in a bit more on top of the leaves & such & voila - crayola extraordinare!  ;D

Sly - nice lighting work.  That is one thing I am very dissapointed with in Canon - none of their flashes can be slaves to a normal flash or the camera itself - they need ETTL controller via IR, of which only the 580EX flash & their IR remote controller can do.  :P
