Off Brand Battery Chargers
« on: January 14, 2010, 01:21:10 PM »
So, at my last photography job, I managed to lose both of my chargers. It was entirely my fault since I left them in a box of their stuff when I transported it back to their office (my wife works there).

So, the canon ones are $40, which seems very excessive. I'm usually sketchy about batteries for my cameras ever since two off-brand (though very well reviewed in the various canon forums) batteries fried the power switch on my 300D. Anyone have any experience with the off brand chargers? Multiple-battery chargers are welcome, and I'd rather pay $40 to be able to charge 3 or 4 batteries at once than $40 for the exact same thing that comes with every Bp-511 equipped Canon camera...

Thanks,
Eric

I use a sterlingtek charger with no issues.  It takes a little longer and doesn't flash in different increments to show how much charge the battery has like the canon charger but it works for me.  I used to have a sterlingtek for my 350D and had no problems with that either.

Thanks DV, I'll probably order one up. Also, they have a package deal - 2 batteries + charger for less than one Canon charger. That may be my way to go.

I also use their batteries.  Never had an issue there either.
