The theme for the April / May Photographic Challenge, as chosen by last month's winner is: Simplicity.

PolarGuy says:

Quote
"Thanks again to all of you that voted....and thank you for this honor.  As the winner, I have the dubious honor of naming the category for the next challenge....one that I've thought long and hard about.  Because of the complexity of shooting sporting events, what with all the ice cream licking kids, and cheer leaders and bad lighting and all...and the confusion of the crowd in the background, the chaos of motion, I thought that I would choose something that one would think is easier for the next challenge...and here it is...

SIMPLICITY!

I would love to see a rash of photo captures that are dedicated to nothing more complicated than SIMPLICITY!  Sounds easy, but sometimes the simplest things are the most complex.  Simplicity can be spiritual, visual, or just plain emotional.  It is to you what it will be, and that should make it very interesting to see what makes you tick.  So get out there....go get some pictures of SIMPLICITY and post them up!  And do me a favor.....have fun with it this month.....we wouldn't want something like simplicity to bog you down.

Thanks again to ALL, and I'm looking forward to your entries in the next monthly challange.....SIMPLICITY, isn't it?"

Good luck everyone!

The deadline for submissions will be May 31st, 2008.

All pictures must be uploaded into the April/May gallery to qualify for the challenge. Gallery located here: http://www.digitalfotographer.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=44

Be sure to read the Photo Challenge rules before submitting a photo:

Good luck everyone.  Get out there and start shooting!

From this month's Outdoor Photographer mag.

"What's really important is to simplify.  The work of most photographers would be improved immensely if they could do one thing: get rid of the extraneous.  If you strive for simplicity, you are more likely to reach the viewer."

Just about halfway through this challenge and there are already a slew of excellent entries!  (...and I[/i] haven't even entered yet! Tongue )

Keep up the good work, and keep the entries coming!  Remember, we can have as many as 5 person.

Remember, in this month's challenge, simplicity rules!

A basic capture of some sheetrock texture literally meets this challenge 100% and may even win if it catches our collective eye.   I'd like to see some real artsy fartsy stuff friends!
